Jake and Kassi’s love story (As told by Kassi):
Jake’s boys brought us together.
Kassi taught Nathan (oldest) in iTown Church kids and Judah (youngest) was in the classroom across the hall from her. Throughout the year, Nathan and Judah got to know Kassi. After prayer at church on a Saturday morning, Jake asked Kassi to go to lunch with him and the boys. We spent time hanging out with friends and getting to know each other.
One night at a friend’s house, we cooked dinner and sat on the couch talking for hours. Three days later, Jake called Kassi and asked to pursue her for marriage. The next Saturday, we went on our first date and spent the whole afternoon together.
The following Friday, Jake met Kassi’s family. Kassi’s dad helped the boys find worms for their fishing poles. Jake caught a 6 foot bass (not). We ate dinner and had s’mores by the fire.
The Friday after that, Jake took Kassi’s dad out for coffee to ask for Kassi’s hand in marriage. He said “Well my answer is yes, but it’s not up to me.”
Jake planned to propose the next night but couldn’t sleep and woke up at 4am to call Kassi’s best friend. Jake told Kassi’s best friend Maggie to meet over at his house after Saturday morning prayer at church.
Jake practiced the proposal with the boys and hid in the ring in their room. Once we came to the house, Jake had the boys “go get something” out of their room. He sat Kassi down on the couch and told her how much she meant to him. He asked Judah if he had something to ask Kassi. Judah asked Kassi “Will you marry my daddy?” Jake took the ring from Nathan and asked Kassi if she would marry him. She said yes and a whole lot of “oh my goodness”. 🙂
We dated 16 days. He waited too long.
